Building paritarian social funds

In a number of CLA's Swiss trade unions have attained the building of parititian social funds. The advantage of a social fund lies in the provision of financial resources to meet the central branch- and profession-specific needs, such as vocational training, monitoring and control of agreed contractual regulations.

The contractual partnership is being strengthened by meeting the needs on both sides. All involved persons pay their contributions for orderly measures and basic services within the branch. The management and administration of funds on the basis of equal representation further promotes a culture, in which many conflicts are being managed directly between the contractual partners through dialogue.

The social fund of the construction industry –an institution for the entire construction branch

The social partners of the national framework labour agreement in the Swiss main construction industry (LMV) decided after the negotiations in 1970 to establish a common social fund, called Parifonds. The basis of the Parifonds was renewed in 1996.

The social fund Parifonds consists of two funds with differing task areas: the application fund and the vocational training fund. The contributions are paid by workers (payroll deduction) and employers.
